That evening, Gabriella eventually had time to rest on the coach of the drawing room. Just as she sat down, the Queen and her daughters arrived at the drawing room after their dinner.
那天晚上，嘉碧拉終於有時間休息，坐在客廳的沙發上。她才剛坐下，皇后和她的女兒們用餐完畢，隨後也進入了客廳。
Suddenly, Charlotte and Caroline began to giggle violently, the confused Gabriella had no idea what was going on.
突然，夏綠蒂和凱洛琳開始大笑了起來，疑惑的嘉碧拉完全不知道現在究竟是什麼情形。
After some time, it was Charlotte, still giggling, who broke the suspense, "Mamma, look at her face! It's black with cinder! Is this some sort of cosmetics of the latest technology- smothering your face with cinder? Hahahaha!"
過了一會兒後，夏綠蒂才邊笑邊說：「媽，妳瞧她的臉！被灰燼弄得烏漆抹黑的。難道把灰抹在臉上是最新科技研發出的化妝品嗎？哈哈哈哈！」
"Enough of your tricks, Gabriella!" The Queen suddenly shouted, which silenced everyone, "Go and clean your dirty face, then come back and play a song for us on the piano! For, indeed, what other use are you except to play on the piano to amuse us?" As neither Caroline nor Charlotte knew how to play the piano, they were both extremely jealous of the talented Gabriella.
「我受夠你的花招了，嘉碧拉！」突然，皇后大聲罵道，連王子的姊姊們都不敢笑了。「還不趕快去把你的臉洗乾淨，然後回來在鋼琴上彈一首曲子給我們聽。不然，你在這裡有何用？你唯一的用處就是會彈鋼琴，可以來娛樂一下我們！」因為凱洛琳和夏綠蒂都不會彈鋼琴，所以她們都十分嫉妒才藝多端的嘉碧拉。
As Gabriella rose from the coach and walked to the bathroom to clean her face, which was smothered by cinders whilst she cleaned the oven that morning, Charlotte said to her mother. "Mamma! Let's not call her Gabriella anymore! We should call her Cinderella instead, as her face is always smothered by cinder! Hahahahah!"
當嘉碧拉起身，走向浴室去洗她那早上清理烤箱時被弄髒了的臉時，夏綠蒂說。「媽，我們下次不要再叫她嘉碧拉了！我看，我們改叫她灰姑娘吧！誰叫她的臉總是灰灰的！哈哈哈哈！」
And what's more! Gabriella heard the booming laugh of Prince Henry as she turned the corner.
更慘的是：嘉碧拉還聽到了亨利王子的大笑聲。
After Gabriella and Prince Henry returned to their bedroom that night, Gabriella could eventually stand it no more. She kneeled by the bed and started sobbing. The prince, who was sitting on an armchair reading the newspaper, paid absolutely no heed to the tender actions of his wife and continued to read as if nothing had happened.
當嘉碧拉和亨利王子晚上回到寢室時，嘉碧拉終於忍無可忍了。她跪在床邊開始啜泣了起來。坐在沙發上看報紙的王子絲毫不理會他的妻子，彷彿什麼事兒也沒發生一般。
After ten minutes, Prince Henry suddenly bellowed, without putting down the newspaper, "O will you shut up and quit crying, you ignorant woman? Can't you see that I'm trying to read the newspaper here? If you want to cry, go to the toilet and close the door! Even if you cry all night, I wouldn't pay the least attention to you!"
過了十分鐘後，王子突然大罵：「你還不快閉嘴，你這個愚婦！你沒看見我正在讀報嗎？要哭就去廁所關起門來哭，看你是要哭整個晚上我都不會理你的。」
"But.....Hen....I mean.....your highness!" Gabriella sobbed, "Didn't you see how your sisters and your mamma bullied me in the drawing room? I'm not a clown! I'm not here to amuse you! If you couldn't do anything, can't you at least come over and soothe me?"
「可是....亨.....我是說.....王子殿下！」嘉碧拉邊哭邊說道。「你難道沒看見你那些姊姊和你媽媽是怎麼欺負我的嗎？我不是小丑誒！我在這裡不是為了娛樂你們的！若你什麼也不能做，你至少也該來安慰我一下吧？」
"Well, what they said were absolutely true! You did have cinder on your face, and what can you do except play the piano? You don't even know how to dance!" Prince Henry replied coldly, "And by the way, I'm sure mother knows best, I find no fault in her speech. Now, will you shut up!?"
「他們所講的並沒有什麼不對啊！你那時的確有灰在你的臉上，還有，你除了會彈鋼琴還會什麼？連跳個舞都不會！」亨利王子冷冷地回答道。「再說，我相信媽媽永遠是對的，她講的並無不妥之處。現在你可以閉嘴了嗎？」
That night, Gabriella lay awake on her bed, thinking about her mamma and her life before she was married to the prince. Then, she remembered Cindy, her stepsister, who could be a bit nasty and mischievous at times, but were, in her mind, a thousand times kinder than the two sisters of the Prince. "O how I wish I hadn't listened to mamma and married the prince! The prince doesn't even love me. Whom he loves is Cindy, who danced with him at the night of the ball," she thought as she eventually dozed off.
那天晚上，嘉碧拉躺在床上，想念著媽媽和她結婚前的生活。然後，她想起了那個沒有血緣關係的妹妹～莘蒂；雖然，她有時很惡劣和狡猾，但是在嘉碧拉的心目中，比王子的那兩個姊姊都好上幾千倍。「噢，我多希望那時沒有聽媽媽的話嫁給王子！他根本不愛我！他愛的是舞會那晚和他共舞的莘蒂！」嘉碧拉想著想著便睡著了。
As for the 'mischievous' Cindy, she immediately arrived at her Aunty Querida's house after the latter has promised to help her in their video-call conversation.
至於那個『狡猾』的莘蒂呢？當她聽到阿姨有意幫她時，她馬上衝到了可麗妲的家。
"Very active......or should I say: too active, just like your mother!" Querida commented as she saw her niece by her doorstep. "But as I am always good with my words, I will help you! Hehehehe, but you must promise me something in return....."
「很積極.....不.....我應該說：太積極了！就跟你媽媽一樣！」可麗妲看見姪女站在家門口時說。「但是，因為我是個守信用的人，我還是會幫你的！呵呵呵，不過，你得答應我一件事.....」
What was the malicious Querida secretly planning in her foolish head?
