In a small, faraway country, there lived a King, Queen and their eight-year-old daughter, Rapunzel. They were a happy family with everything that they could've wished for, and they were content with what they own and never complained. Their situation was envied by many, but due to their benevolent disposition, they had few, if any, enemies.
在一個遙遠的小國家，住著國王、王后以及他們八歲的女兒～羅鵬珠。他們一家非常幸福，沒有什麼是他們沒有的。這一家人也很知足，從來不會抱怨。他們是許多人羨慕的對象，但是，因為他們善良的天性，所以沒有什麼敵人。
One day, the family boarded their private jet to go on a vacation in Hawaii.
有天，他們全家人搭著私人飛機準備前往夏威夷度假。
However, an unfortunate event happened: their private jet was caught in a mega turbulence above the Pacific Ocean, the engine stopped working and they were soon plunged into the merciless grasp of the deep sea.
然而，不幸的事發生了：他們的私人客機在太平洋海域上空遇到超級亂流，將整台飛機捲進無情大海的魔掌裏。
After some struggling, the King and the little Princess were saved from the sea, however, the Queen, who was unable to swim, was nowhere to be found. As a result of this accident, Rapunzel, who sat by the window and saw the plane being plunged into the sea, became severely acrophobic (afraid of heights), and constantly had nightmares of the reenactments of the lamented day.
經過了一番掙扎，國王和小王子從海裡被救了出來。可是，不會游泳的王后卻不幸葬身於大海。經過了這次的意外後，坐在窗口邊並眼睜睜地看著飛機墜入汪洋大海的羅鵬珠變成了深度懼高症患者，也時常做噩夢，夢到那天所發生的事情。
The King caught a cold after such a long time in the icy ocean, which soon developed into pneumonia and rheumatism. On his deathbed, he summoned his sister (Rapunzel's aunt), who had a PhD in Psychotherapy, and said in his feeble voice.
國王也因為在海裡的時間太久，得了重感冒，很快地惡化成了肺炎及風濕症。在臨終前，他找來了有著心理治療科博士學位的妹妹（也就是羅鵬珠的姑姑），並用著虛弱的聲音說。
"Gothel, please take care of little Rapunzel after I'm gone; and, please, try your best to cure Rapunzel's Acrophobia. I will give a portion of my inheritance to you and the rest to Rapunzel, it's all written in my will, which is placed in........."
「鼓瑟，我走後請一定要好好照顧鵬珠，也請你把她的懼高症治療好。我會將一部份的遺產留給你，另一部份給鵬珠。這些全部都寫在遺書裡了，遺書就放在.......」
The King could not finish his sentence and passed away, so even after many hours of searching, no one could find the will of the King anywhere.
國王還來不及說完就去世了，所以大夥兒找了好久終究沒找到國王的遺書。
However, Rapunzel's Aunt Gothel kept her word to 'cure' Rapunzel of her 'mental illness', she placed Rapunzel in a tall tower, especially designed by herself, where at the top, it was completely made out of glass. Everyday, Rapunzel was forced to stay in the glass tower and look down, which Gothel believed would soon cure Rapunzel's illness. Rapunzel had no means of escape as the tower had stairs on the outside without railings, so she daren't descend them without Aunt Gothel taking her down the stairs.
然而，鼓瑟仍然堅守承諾，試著將羅鵬珠的懼高症治療好。於是，她將羅鵬珠放在她精心設計的塔裡，那個塔的頂端全部使用玻璃打造。每天，羅鵬珠都要到頂樓站在玻璃塔裡往下看，鼓瑟相信很快地，她的病就會被治好的。羅鵬珠也無法逃離，因為塔的樓梯都沒有欄杆，而且繞在塔的外面，所以，沒有姑姑牽著，她根本不敢下樓。
