從前從前，有一個小女孩兒，她的名字叫白雪。
Once upon a time, there was a little girl, whose name was Snow White.
她和大家一樣，都有一個很疼愛她的媽媽～每天照顧、呵護著她。
Like everyone else, she had a loving mother who took good care of her.
可是，好景不長；有天，她的媽媽生了一場怪病，突然病倒了。
Nevertheless, good things never last. One day, her mother became extremely ill from a strange disease.
她在臨終前，和她的先生說：「我非常遺憾無法親眼看見白雪長大成人，所以你一定要好好照顧白雪，把她教育成一個善良的好女孩兒～～」
Lying on her deathbed, she whispered gently to her husband: "I feel extremely regretful of not being able to take care of Snow White until she grows up. So, you have to take good care of her, educate her to become a benevolent girl......"
話還沒來得及說完，白雪的媽媽就不支倒地，離開人世了！
She didn't have time to finish her words before she passed away.
於是，在白雪四歲時，他幫白雪找了一個家教～來教她讀書寫字、做人處事和基本禮儀，直到她嫁人為止，這個家教都要跟在白雪身邊，照顧她。
Therefore, when Snow White was four, her father employed a governess to teach her the 3 R's (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic) and basic manners; until she is married, her governess will accompany and nourish her.
那個家教為人非常好，因為自己本身並沒有結婚也没有孩子，所以待白雪如己出。
Her governess was a very agreeable woman, since she does not have children of her own, she treated Snow White as her own daughter.
可是，可能是因為她一心想把白雪教好，所以對她非常嚴厲，每天叫她讀一堆書，寫一堆功課。
However, perhaps that was exactly why she was extremely strict. She always set a lot of study work for Snow White to do.
因此，白雪漸漸的越來越討厭她，覺得她根本就是個巫婆。
Because of this, Snow White gradually begin to dislike her, and thought her rather like a witch.
白雪並不喜歡讀書，她只喜歡照鏡子，打扮；她唯一的夢想就是結婚、然後當一位好太太。
Snow White did not like to study, all she liked to do was to admire her own beauty in the mirror and dress up herself; her only ambition was to marry and be a good wife.
她的家教並不認同她的嗜好及夢想～
Her governess did not approve of her hobby and ambition:
「一個女人的美貌是來自於她的內涵；美貌會隨著歲月老去，可是內涵卻會隨著歲月而增加。」
"A woman's beauty originates from her inner soul; beauty fades with time, but knowledge and wisdom only increases with time."
「雖然是女人，但也要有自己的理想～男人是不會喜歡一個没有內涵的女人的！」
"Women, too, should have their own ambitions, no men will like a woman that is vain and ignorant.
可是白雪都聽不進去家教對她的教誨，只是覺得她喋喋不休、十分討厭。
But Snow White could not understand the lectures of her governess, it only made her dislike towards her increase even more.
時光飛逝，很快的白雪已經16歲了。
Time passed by, soon Snow White was 16 years old.
在她16歲的生日那天，她的家教還是依然給她出了一大堆功課。
On the day of her sixteenth birthday, her governess still gave her a lot of study work to do.
她已經忍無可忍了，於是～～～她決定要離家出走！
Eventually, Snow White have had quite enough, so she decided to run away from home.
可是，白雪能去哪兒呢？
But, where can Snow White go?
