After having decided that Claire would stay in Taipei to take care of the delirious Tiffany, the rest of the group went back to bed to get some more sleep. Then, at eight o'clock in the morning, they set off to Taipei Railway Station to catch the Taiwan High Speed Train to Kaohsiung.
"I can't wait to visit Kaohsiung," said Jeffrey. "It's the most underrated city in Taiwan! Most people only focus on the capital city and didn't explore beyond Taipei, which is certainly a shame."
After buying their tickets at the counter, there was still time before their train arrived, so the group of friends decided to check out the underground mall of Taipei Train Station.
"Wow! I can't believe there's a giant mall down here!" marvelled Eliza as she walked past all sorts of stalls selling everything from fashion items, food to books and toys. "Taipei is already like a huge mall itself, but an underground shopping mall? That's something new!"
"It's always a nice spot to go shopping when it's raining outside, as you won't get wet being underground!" said Blythe. "Plus, this is the central transfer station for every line of the Taipei metro, which means that you can get here from everywhere by taking the MRT."
"That's actually really clever!" said Jeffrey. "It seems like Taiwanese people love shopping so much, they won't let anything stop them. Haha!"
At the appointed time, the group of friends arrived at the platform for their train to Kaohsiung and they soon perceived a modern, white and orange train whizzing into the platform at a very high speed.
"Wow! It says online that the Taiwan High Speed Rail travels with a speed of approximately 300km per hour! That's pretty fast!" said Jeffrey, whilst searching for information on his phone. "That means we'll arrive at Kaohsiung in just 90 minutes!"
"Is that faster than the trains in the UK?" questioned Eliza.
"Yup, in fact, THSR is amongst the top ten fastest trains in the world," said Blythe.
"Wow, that's amazing! Wait, Jeff, how do you have wifi?" enquired Eliza.
"Are you joking, Eliza? There's free wifi everywhere in Taipei!" said Jeffrey. "The hotspot's called iTaiwan. You just have to click in and register, then you'll be able to enjoy free wifi everywhere you go in Taipei!"
"Wow! I didn't know that!" marvelled Eliza. "That's so cool! That means I can check-in to all the places I've visited on social media, so everyone will become jealous of me!"
"Come on, guys, we need to get on the train!" said Shaun. "The trains in Taiwan are extremely punctual, so our train will leave in 1 minute."
