In the middle of the night, Eliza woke up to a deafening, shrill scream. Bleary eyed and bushy tailed, she rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed, only to discover that it was no other than Tiffany.
"What's wrong with you, Tiffany?" snapped Eliza after glancing at the alarm clock on top of the dresser. "It's only half three in the morning! Shut up and go back to sleep, else you'll wake everyone up!"
"It's gone! It's GONE!" exclaimed Tiffany with a trembling voice.
A few moments later, everyone including the old grandma, having heard Tiffany's deafening scream, came rushing into their room, still in their pyjamas, only to perceive Tiffany standing in front of the portrait, trembling all over.
"The woman's GONE!" shouted Tiffany. Only then did everyone understand what the fuss was all about. In fact, Tiffany was right for once. The woman dressed in a kimono that was in the portrait, which Tiffany bought at Shilin Night Market on the previous night, was nowhere to be seen. Now, the portrait only showed an empty room.
Blythe flipped the portrait over, only to discover that there was nothing on the back.
"What kind of sorcery is this?" marvelled Jeffrey as he could not believe his own eyes.
"I knew this portrait somehow looks different," muttered Blythe as she touched its surface.
