Chrysanthemum on the Cliff-9 懸崖上的小雛菊-9

One sunny morning, three years after his first arrival at the Noir's place, Gerald received an anonymous letter that requested him to return to London. Despite being in an ecstasy of joy to be able to return home, Gerald was a bit bewildered as the war still hadn't ended.

However, grabbing hold of any legitimate reason to leave the Noir's, Gerald rapidly packed his things in his carpetbag, and excitedly bid farewell to the Noirs. Then, he boarded the earliest train back to London.

Gerald's confusion and bewilderment augmented after having arrived at the train station and seeing neither his mother nor his father there to pick him up. He couldn't help but started to wonder just exactly who wrote that letter that had summoned him back to London.

Just when Gerald was beginning to get anxious, a man with a curly moustache, wearing a tall hat appeared in front of him. After reading the label on Gerald's carpetbag, the stranger said, "Ah!! You must be Anderson! Welcome back to London! Your parents requested me to come and pick you up at the station. This way, please!"

"Excuse me, sir! I am not acquainted with you. May I ask who you are?" Gerald inquired the middle-aged man wearing a purple bow-tie.

"Uhm......me? Oh......I am Doctor Johnson!" the man seemed a bit taken aback by Gerald's direct question.

"Oh, you must be the one that wrote the letter to me, aren't you?" Gerald, relieved that he had eventually found the sender of the letter, said.

"Letter? Oh, oh, yes! Of course!" the man replied.

Then, Gerald and the man boarded a cab which the latter had hired off the road and they headed in the direction of the city centre.
