Gerald's best friend- Daniel was playing football with the children from his evacuated family.
傑瑞德的好朋友～丹尼爾正在和他被疏散後的新家人的小朋友在踢足球。
"John! Pass the ball to me!" Frederick, who was about the same age as Daniel, shouted to his younger brother- John, who had just started playing football recently, so he was not very skilled at it.
「約翰，把球傳給我！」年紀和丹尼爾一樣大的佛瑞迪對他才剛開始學踢足球，所以球技還不是很好的的弟弟～約翰說。
With a kick, John accidentally passed the ball to Daniel, who wasn't paying much attention as he was admiring a pretty bird, which was perching on a tree nearby, instead of the original target- Frederick. The ball went passed Daniel.
約翰不小心將球踢偏了，本來要踢給佛瑞迪的，卻踢給了專注在觀看旁邊樹上美麗小鳥的丹尼爾。於是，球便從丹尼爾身邊飛過。
"Oops! Sorry!" Daniel apologised and went to fetch the ball, which had rolled into a bush nearby.
「喔哦～對不起！」丹尼爾趕緊跑去撿滾到樹叢旁邊的足球。
When Daniel walked closer to the ball, suddenly, he perceived the bush to be moving slightly.
當丹尼爾走近球時，突然，他發現樹叢竟會動！
Cautiously, he tiptoed closer to the bush. To his amazement, he discovered that, hiding behind the bush was his best friend from school- Gerald!
小心翼翼、墊著腳尖走近樹叢的丹尼爾赫然發現，原來躱在樹叢後面的竟是他的好朋友～傑瑞德！
"Gerald! It's you! Am I not glad to see you here?" Daniel exclaimed with excitement, "Why are your eyes red? Have you been crying? Why have you been crying? Why aren't you at home with the Noirs? What are you doing here?"
「傑瑞德！是你！我有多高興在這裡遇見你呀！」丹尼爾驚訝地說。「你為什麼眼睛紅紅的？你剛剛是在哭嗎？你為什麼要哭呢？你為什麼不在諾媧家？你為什麼在這裡？」
The inquisitive, but gentle and caring Daniel bombarded Gerald with his questions, which made the latter a bit confused about which one to answer first. After calming himself down, Gerald, slowly but steadily, recounted everything that has happened since his arrival to the Noirs house. After he got to the part where he was chucked out by Mrs. Noir, Daniel could stand it no more and he exclaimed in frustration through gritted teeth and with fists clenched, "What a naughty boy that Aaron is! He'll surely get a good punch from me if I ever get to see him! And how dare that wicked, old witch treat you as such! She has absolutely no right to do so."
好奇、但友善的丹尼爾用問題轟炸了傑瑞德，害得他不知從哪兒開始回答起才好。稍稍的冷靜下來後，傑瑞德便緩緩的從他來到諾媧家所發生的事開始說起。等到他說到他是如何被諾媧太太趕出來後，丹尼爾終於忍無可忍了！他咬牙切齒、拳頭緊握、氣憤地說：「那個艾倫真是個壞小孩，最好不要讓我遇到他，不然我一定要給他一點兒顏色瞧瞧兒！還有那個老巫婆，竟敢如此對待你！她没有權力這麼做！」
Only then, did Gerald laugh out loud as Daniel's expression was just too amusing.
這時，傑瑞德終於噗哧一聲地笑了出來，因為丹尼爾的表情實在太搞笑啦！
"Gerald, come with me!" Daniel said, "I'll take you back to my evacuated family, I am sure Mrs. Bennett would be delighted to have you with us."
「傑瑞德，跟我來！」丹尼爾說。「我帶你回去我被疏散後的家。我相信班內特太太一定會很高興你來和我們一起住的！」
Daniel led Gerald to meet John and Frederick. Then, the four of them strolled back to house of the Bennetts.
於是，丹尼爾帶著傑瑞德去見約翰和佛瑞迪。然後，他們一行人便走回班內特家。
When they arrived, they found Mrs. Bennett already waiting for them at the door. She smiled at Gerald benevolently after he was introduced to her by Daniel as his best friend. And they quickly went into the house.
當他們回到家後，發現班內特太太已經在門口等著他們了。她對傑瑞德微笑著，然後，他們就趕緊進去既溫暖又舒適的房子裏。
"Wow! What a contrast to Mrs. Noir's crooked smile!" Gerald thought quietly to himself as he stepped into the warm and illuminated house of the Bennetts.
「哇！班內特太太和諾媧太太的笑容簡直就是天壤之別呀！」傑瑞德進屋後心想。
