After the departure of the Schwarzs, the detectives now had a whole day to themselves, so they've decided to return to their unfinished investigations of the previous evening. Naturally, they commenced with the room of which they felt most suspicious- the one with the Christmas Tree.
On reaching the small attic-room, Shaun discovered in amazement that it was, in fact, not 'small' at all! Due to the lack of light during his previous examination of the room, Shaun failed to notice that the room was extremely deep; and, situated at the farthest end, there was a pile of objects that were covered by a piece of cloth. Moreover, the farther part of the room was not as dust-free as the front part, which may denote the fact that it hadn't been noticed by the maid when she was cleaning it, either.
As Shaun dragged the piece of cloth off, both him and Jeffrey exclaimed in astonishment after having perceived a white, grand piano appear into sight.
"We've finally solved the mystery!" Jeffrey gasped.
"Not quite," responded Shaun, "We have to first examine if the music has indeed come from this piano."
"What do you mean?" inquired Jeffrey, bewildered, "Are you implying that there could be another piano?"
"First of all, we have to drag this piano out a bit, as it is way too close to the wall for anyone to sit comfortably and play," continued Shaun as he tried to drag the cumbersome piano out. However, the obstinate instrument would not even budge.
Jeffrey then began to pull as well, but no matter how hard they tried, the piano did not move.
"Hmmm, that's curious! Usually, even a grand piano can't be that heavy. Unless...." murmured Shaun as he bent down below the instrument to examine it, then concluded, "It seems to be glued onto the floor or something. Unless whoever that was playing this piano was super thin, so he can squeeze through this gap to play; or is super strong to move this piano all alone."
"Very true," Jeffrey nodded in agreement, "So the music didn't seem to have come from this piano, as we could clearly hear it in the drawing room, which is situated on the ground floor. There must be another source of music."
"Seems like this case isn't as simple as we've thought," said Shaun pensively.
