After the group of tomb-raiders have all entered the pyramid, they covered up the hole through which they came and left a mark on the wall in case they get lost. At this instant, their lighted torches were extinguished, and they were plunged into total darkness.
"Oh no! It's the pharaoh's curse!" whimpered one of them.
"Indeed, it must be! For there can be no draught in here after the entrance is closed," another added.
"Shut the hell up, you idiots! And relight the fire," commanded Waserenamun in annoyance. The group immediately obeyed, however, every time they have succeeded in relighting the torch, it was blown out again in the next instant.
"Never mind," said Waserenamun after the third try, "Our eyes are accustomed to the dark anyways, so this won't affect our mission. Proceed onwards!"
After a few turns in the eerie, winding passageways, the group encountered an apparent entrance into the centre of the pyramid. "This must lead us to our destination," concluded the bald man with the beard as he strode briskly in.
Without warning, a mechanism was activated, and, as quick as lightning, the apparent entrance closed shut behind the bald man, completely sealing him from the outside world to the point that even his desperate cries for help were unable to be perceived by his comrades. In fact, it was a trap disguised as an entrance!
"Akins! Akins! Hang on there," exclaimed his comrades as they tried in vain to force open the trapdoor. However, all was to no avail as the cumbersome door made of stone would not even budge.
"We don't have time," shouted Waserenamun with an emotionless expression, "We have to proceed without Akins."
The others reluctantly obeyed, unwilling to abandon their comrade, yet fearing to disobey their leader. Waserenamun led the group up a steep flight of steps. Only then did they succeed in relighting one of their torches.
"See, 'tis no cur-" Before one of them could finish his sentence, the torchlight flickered violently and was extinguished yet again.
What other dangers await them deep inside the pyramid?
