One day, Dorothy, the Scarecrow and the Tin-man were walking merrily along the Yellow Brick Road when they encountered a wooden drawbridge that leads them across a murky river inhabited by aggressive crocodiles.
有天，陶樂絲和她的新朋友們開心地走在黃磚路上時，他們遇到了一個吊橋，穿過一條裏面住著兇猛鱷魚的河水。
"Hmmmm, looks like we have no path around it!" Dorothy thought out loud after looking around for another way across the river.
『哎，看來我們沒有其他的路可以走了！』陶樂絲一邊找著其他的路，一邊喃喃自語說。
"Then, let's get a move on!" the Tin-man replied, "I am sure that if everyone else before us passed the bridge, then we can do it as well!"
『那我們就過橋兒吧！』鐵錫人自信滿滿的說。『如果先前的人都過得去，那我們也過得去！』
"Not so fast!" the Scarecrow shouted, "Look carefully! From my perspective, there seems to be a few planks missing on the bridge; and from my calculation, it would be well over 2 metres, there is no way that we are able to jump over it to reach the other side!"
『等等！』稻草人喊道：『你們瞧兒，吊橋上有幾塊板子不見了。根據我的計算，那個斷裂處最起碼也有兩公尺，我們是絕對跳不過去的！』
Just when the Tin-man was about to argue that they would never know if they hadn't tried, a ferocious-looking lion appeared suddenly on the bridge and was advancing steadily towards them.
正當鐵錫人準備要開始爭辯說『如果不試試怎麼會知道』時，一個看似兇殘的獅子突然出現在橋的另一端，並以飛快得速度朝他們逼近！！
"Yikes, mamma-mia!" exclaimed the quick-eyed Scarecrow in fright, "Although I doubt that we can jump over that gap, I am pretty sure the lion could!"
『天呀！媽媽咪呀！』眼尖的稻草人嚇得大叫。『雖然我不確定我們到底跳得過跳不過那個斷裂的地方，但是我很確定那隻獅子可以！』
"Run for our lives!" the Tin-man shouted.
『大家快跑呀！』鐵錫人大喊道。
Dorothy was so shocked that she was dumb-founded, she couldn't move herself away no matter how hard she wished to at that moment. She had only seen lions before in zoos through a safe piece of glass, but never that close nor without a shield between them.
陶樂絲被獅子嚇得動也動不了了！她只有在動物園看過獅子，但是都是隔著一片厚厚的玻璃，這還是她頭一次如此近距離地面對獅子。
Just when Dorothy thought to herself that she would soon become the supper of the lion, she was even more astonished to see the lion turn back and run away from them, as if from fright.
正當陶樂絲心想自己即將成為獅子的大餐時，她赫然發現獅子似乎很害怕似的，掉頭跑走了！
At first, Dorothy's initial reaction was that there must be something behind her, which is even scarier than the lion to make it escape from them in such a manner; however, after she looked back, all she perceived was the Tin-man and the Scarecrow running away, without waiting for her!
起出，陶樂絲第一個反應就是她後面有比獅子更恐怖的東西，把獅子嚇跑了。但是，她轉頭一看，竟然什麼也沒發現，只看見稻草人和鐵錫人沒等她就自己跑走了！
Suddenly, Dorothy came to her senses and thought to herself: "Ahah! That must be the cowardly lion from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!"
突然，陶樂絲想起來了：『對了！這一定就是【綠野仙蹤】裏面的那隻膽小的獅子！』
Therefore, Dorothy took up her courage and screamed at the lion: "Oi! Lion! Come back! We need your help!!"
所以，陶樂絲鼓起了勇氣，對著獅子大叫：『喂！獅子！回來呀！我們需要你的幫助！』
By this time, the Tin-man and the Scarecrow have discovered the absence of Dorothy and have turned back to rescue her, they were so flabbergasted by Dorothy's reaction that they thought Dorothy must have gone mad!
這時，鐵錫人和稻草人發現了陶樂絲沒有跟上來，正準備調頭回來拯救陶樂絲時，他們聽到陶樂絲的舉動後都被嚇呆了，心想陶樂絲一定是瘋了！
Just then, the Lion whirled around and whispered in a tiny and trembling voice: "Yee....eeees, may....may I help you, miss?"
獅子突然回過頭來，然後用著細小、顫抖的聲音說道：『我......我有什麼可以幫忙的嗎？』
"Could you please jump over that gap and come over here?" Dorothy requested, "We have something to say to you!"
『請問，你有辦法跳過那個吊橋斷裂處，然後來我們這兒嗎？』陶樂絲問道，『我有件是想請你幫忙！』
The Cowardly Lion was still trembling from fear when it has reached Dorothy's side of the bridge and the Tin-man was on full guard, holding his axe in front of him for protection.
膽小的獅子一邊顫抖著，一邊走到橋的另一端。鐵錫人已經啟動【全後衛】模式，將斧頭拿著緊緊的，好在緊要關頭時保護大家。
"Oh, quit your trembling, you cowardly lion!" Dorothy began to become impatient and snapped loudly at the lion, "What is the matter with you? Why did you run away from us? You're the lion! We're supposed to be afraid of YOU, instead of you being scared of US!"
『噢，別再抖了，你這隻膽小的獅子！』陶樂絲漸漸開使感到不耐煩後便破口大罵：『你道底是怎麼回事兒呀？你為何看到我們要拔腿就跑？你是隻獅子耶！我們應該要怕你，而不是你怕我們呀！』
"Hello....." the Lion trembled even more after perceiving that Dorothy was getting angry, he responded, "When....when I first encountered you and your friends, I was going to come over and say hello as it was not frequent that there are visitors here. But....but....when I saw that.....that man holding that....horrible axe, I....I was so scared that I....." the Lion broke into a fit of half-sobbing and half-whinnying.
『你.....你們好呀！』獅子看到陶樂絲生氣的樣子後又顫抖得更厲害了，牠解釋道：『當....當我看到你們時，我本來是要來打個招呼的，因為這兒不常有訪客來。但是......當我看到......那個人.....拿著那個.....恐怖的斧頭時，我.....我就好害怕呀！』獅子說完便開使啜泣。
"Oh, for goodness' sake! I have never seen such a cowardly lion in my life!" Dorothy exclaimed, "Tin-man would you please put that axe of yours down so you won't scare off our little friend here?"
『噢，天呀！我這輩子還是頭一次見到這麼膽小的獅子！』陶樂絲大聲說道。『鐵錫人，可以麻煩你把那把府頭放下嗎？這樣才不會嚇到這個小傢伙兒！』
At first, the Tin-man was reluctant to drop his axe on the grass; however, after seeing Dorothy's confident gaze at him, he eventually decided to trust Dorothy.
剛開始，鐵錫人有些猶豫到底要不要將斧頭放下，但是，他看到陶樂絲用著篤定的眼神看著他後，他最終還是決定相信陶樂絲。
After the Tin-man dropped his axe, the Lion felt much better and stopped his shivering.
當鐵錫人把斧頭放下後，獅子就好多了，也不再顫抖了。
Then, Dorothy said to the lion: "Could you please do us a huge favour? Could you piggy-back each one of us and jump over the gap so we can cross the bridge and continue our journey to see the Wizard of Oz? Your help would be very much appreciated!"
然後，陶樂絲對獅子說：『你可以幫我們一個大忙嗎？請你一次背一個，背我們跳過那個吊橋斷裂處，好讓我們可以繼續踏上尋找奧茲國巫師的旅途！真是太謝謝你了！』
"Did you say that you are going to see the Great Wizard of Oz?" the Lion's eyes glimmered after hearing the name of the Wizard being mentioned, "Well, it must be my lucky day! Because I would also like to meet the Wizard, I would like to ask the Wizard to grant me Bravery, but....but I was afraid to go alone! Would you kindly let me go with you, you seem like nice people.....well, perhaps except for that man holding the axe...."
『你剛剛是說你們要去找偉大的奧茲國巫師嗎？』獅子一聽到那個名字後就眼睛為之一亮，『那今天真是我的幸運日呀！因為我正好也想去找巫師，我希望他能給我勇氣，可.....可是.....我不敢一個人去呀！你們能夠讓我陪著你們一起去嗎？你們看起來都是好人......除.....除了那個拿斧頭的人以外........』
"Of course!" replied Dorothy, "We would gladly have you as company! But our problem now is that we are incapable of passing the bridge......"
『當然可以呀！』陶樂絲高興得說：『我們非常樂意你加入我們的行列！只是，我們現在的問題是我們沒辦法過橋........』
"No problem!" responded the Lion, "Leave that to me!"
『沒問題！』獅子拍拍胸脯說道。『這件事兒就交給我吧！』
The Lion kept his word and piggy-backed each one of them across the bridge by leaping over the gap, and the group of five continued their journey to see the Wizard.
於是，獅子一次背一個人跳過吊橋斷裂處，讓他們都通過了那個吊橋。然後，他們一行人和新朋友～獅子，又繼續踏上了他們的【尋找巫師之旅】。
