After a whole morning of diligent searching, all was in vain, as Tiffy, the striped cat, was nowhere to be found in the house.
兩人花了一整個早上在找貓，然而，還是沒看到牠的蹤影。
Suddenly, Jeffrey gasped in astonishment. Shaun immediately dashed upstairs to discover that Jeffrey was in the bathroom next to his room, pointing to an open window.
突然，傑佛瑞大聲驚嘆。孝恩趕緊衝上樓後發現傑佛瑞在他房間旁邊的浴室裏，指著一扇打開的窗子。
"Tiffy must've escaped from this open window!" concluded Jeffrey. "But where could it have gone?"
「提飛一定是從這兒跑走的！」傑佛瑞斷定道。「可是，牠究竟會上哪兒去呢？」
"Good question!" replied Shaun, deep in thought, "Cats have tendencies to return to their old homes even after the owner has reallocated with it. Hence, it's quite possible that Tiffy has gone back to Claire and Eliza's flat."
「好問題！」孝恩一邊沈思著一邊答道。「貓咪有『認家』的慣性，許多主人明明已經搬家了，貓咪還是會跑回舊家。因此，很有可能提飛跑回去 Claire 和 Eliza 的公寓了！」
"But, they wouldn't be in, as they're now on their trip. Then, how can we get in?" inquired Jeffrey.
「可是，他們去畢業旅行不在家。我們得怎麼進去？」傑佛瑞問道。
"Don't worry, I have a spare key which Claire gave me, " replied Shaun, holding out the key.
「別擔心！我妹有給我一把備用的鑰匙。」孝恩一邊兒回答一邊兒亮出鑰匙。
Nevertheless, after the detectives opened the door of Claire and Eliza's flat, they discovered that, not only was there no sight of the cat; but also, all the windows have been closed properly, so Tiffy couldn't have gotten in from outside.
然而，神探們打開了 Claire 和 Eliza 的公寓大門後，赫然發現不僅公寓裏也没有貓咪的蹤跡，而且，公寓的門窗緊閉，提飛不可能從外面進去。
"Ah, silly me!" exclaimed Shaun slapping his forehead, "I should've known! The cat couldn't have entered by itself!"
「哎呀！我真儍！」孝恩拍了一下額頭說。「我該知道的～貓咪没有鑰匙，根本進不來呀！」
As they returned home from the flat, Jeffrey pointed to a shop named "Pink Patisserie" and exclaimed, "Look! A new store!"
他們回家的路上，傑佛瑞指著一間名叫『粉紅甜點屋』的店，驚歎道：「你瞧兒，新開的店耶！」
"Great!" replied Shaun, "I'm dying for some food! I can't believe that, in our hurry, we've forgotten breakfast- the most important meal of the day!"
「太棒了！」孝恩答道。「我肚子餓死了！我真不敢相信，我們忙著找貓，都忘了吃早餐！早餐可是一天最重要的一餐啊！」
Jeffrey's stomach groaned deafeningly in acquiescence. "Or, should we say brunch?" he responded after glancing at his watch, indicating that it was already half past one.
傑佛瑞的肚子也大聲地咕嚕咕嚕叫著表示贊同。「應該說是早午餐吧？」他看著顯示著已經一點半了的手錶回答說。
