That evening after dinner, Katrina sneaked into the kitchen when all the kitchen servants have left and commenced to make a potion that will ruin the appearance of someone by making their skin turn a permanent dirty green colour.
那天晚上吃完晚餐，凱崔娜趁著僕人們都離開廚房後，偷偷地溜了進去，並開始準備製作毒藥。這種毒藥是專門讓人毀容的，任何人只要喝下了它，皮膚變會永遠變成深綠色。
Whilst she was boiling the potion, she thought to herself, "Don't blame me, hateful Patricia! Who told you to be the real princess when I am not! If I don't do this, whichever prince will definitely choose you over me to be his bride, after all, it is an undeniable fact that you look prettier than me; and even if the prince didn't choose you, Father and that detestable mother of yours will most certainly dissuade him from choosing me, because they know of my true identity. Huh, after I become bride to the prince, I will be able to escape from this repulsive family and my disgraceful past and start a whole new life. Patricia, just you wait and see how I can stop you from standing in my way from obtaining happiness!"
凱崔娜一邊煮藥，一邊想著：「別怪我唷，討厭的帕特里夏！誰叫妳才是真正的公主而我不是呢！若我没這麼做，不管是哪一個王子一定都會選妳當王妃的，因爲，妳長得比較漂亮這件事是無法否認的事實。就算王子没選妳，父王和妳那個討厭的媽媽也會說服他娶妳的，因爲他們知道我真正的身份。哼，等我當上了王妃後，我就可以脫離這個噁心的家庭以及我見不得人的過去，展開新的人生。帕特里夏，妳走著瞧吧！看我如何把擋在我幸福之路上的妳給除掉！」
After she has finished making the potion, Katrina brought it to their bedchamber and said to Patricia, "My dear sister! Aren't you excited about Prince Audrey's visit tomorrow?"
凱崔娜熬完了毒藥，便將它帶到房間去給帕特里夏。「我親愛的妹妹，妳是不是很興奮明天奧德里王子要來呀？」
When Patricia replied in the affirmative, Katrina continued, "Don't worry, everyone knows that the Prince will choose you over me, after all, you are prettier! But you look extremely pale lately! That wouldn't make a good impression to the prince if you look sickly. Here, I have especially made you some pomegranate juice that will add some colour to your pale skin!"
帕特里夏表示同意後，凱崔娜繼續說道：「別擔心！大家都知道王子一定會選妳而不是我的，因爲妳長得比我漂亮太多啦！可是你最近臉色不怎麼好！這樣會壞了王子對妳的第一印象喔！我剛剛特地爲妳搾了番石榴果汁，它會幫妳的皮膚添點而紅潤色彩！」
Patricia, after thanking Katrina for her kind and considerate action, smelled the artificially aromatic 'pomegranate juice' and drank the whole glass of juice in one go.
帕特里夏謝謝凱崔娜的關心，聞了一下添加人工香料的『果汁』後，一口氣咕嚕咕嚕地整杯喝得乾乾淨淨，一滴也不剩。
On seeing Patricia falling for her trick, Katrina smiled darkly and said, "It's not early now, we should retire to bed soon if we desire energy for tomorrow's grande ball."
看見帕特里夏中了圈套後，凱崔娜暗暗地笑著，然後說：「時間不早了，我們還是早點兒睡吧！這樣明天纔有活力參加舞會。」
Then, they went to bed.
然後，他們便早早就寢了。
On the following morning, when Patricia woke up, she found that Katrina was already gone from their bedroom. After glancing at the mantlepiece on the furnace, she was shocked to discover that it was already eight in the morning! Patricia had overslept! No time to ponder about what to wear, she quickly grabbed her dress from yesterday and put it on.
隔天早上，帕特里夏醒來後，發現凱崔娜早已不見人影。看了一下壁爐上的時鐘後纔赫然發現原來已經早上八點了！帕特里夏睡過頭了！没有多餘的時間思考要穿什麼的帕特里夏隨手抓了一件昨天穿的衣服，趕緊套上。
When she walked past the mirror, she was horrified to discover that her face is as green as a leaf! Oh no! Katrina's evil plan has succeeded!
當她走過鏡子時纔驚見到自己的臉變得和葉子般一樣綠了！凱崔娜的邪惡計畫得成了！
