As the group entered the basement room, they stared in wonder as the piano was playing by itself in the corner! "What is going on?" Amelie gasped in horror as she supported herself by leaning on the wall, to prevent herself from fainting.
In reality, both detectives perceived that someone was playing the piano, unobserved by the awestricken girl.
Suddenly, Shaun and Jeffrey felt a sudden feeling of dizziness. As the basement room swirled violently around them, the detectives perceived that the piano player gradually turned around.
"Thank you for coming to my private concert," the distant voice of a duke spoke as he stood in front of his audience, sitting on Victorian-style chairs and settees in the attic room of the villa, underneath their feet was a luxurious Persian carpet that covered the entire attic room.
Amongst the deafening clapping sound of the audience, the duke slowly walked over to the grand piano. The detectives perceived that the minute the duke sat down, the music had started playing. Nonetheless, no one in the audience had noticed, as the piano was placed in such an angle that no one in the audience was able to view the keyboard.
Without warning, the image blurred, and when it came into focus again, the detectives perceived that the audience were gone, leaving only the duke and another man, whom both the detectives recognised to be the piano player. "Remember, tomorrow, I want to play Handel's 'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba'," the duke commanded, "Today, you made a mistake. I hope this won't happen again tomorrow."
