In addition to keeping a strict control over Cinderella's dietary habits, Ms. Vandertramp also paid special attention to Cinderella's daily exercises. Not only did Cinderella have to run on the treadmill for half an hour a day, but also she was forced to help the servants clean the house.
"Manual labour is also a good form of exercise," said Ms. Vandertramp to her assistant Dora, who took out her notebook again to take notes.
"No, it's no use forcing Cinderella to do chores against her own will as she is likely to retaliate sooner or later." Looking at Cinderella's angry face whilst mopping the floor, Ms. Vandertramp thought to herself. "I have to give Cinderella some motivation."
Thus, on the following day, Ms. Vandertramp printed out a picture of the prince she found on the internet and hung it up on the wall in Cinderella's room. "Cinderella, come over here, I have something important to tell you," said Ms. Vandertramp. "This is Prince Charming of our kingdom, he is 22 years old, only a bit older than you. Isn't he handsome?"
"OMG! He's the cutest guy I've ever met!" exclaimed Cinderella, who just came home from doing some grocery shopping, which was another one of the chores Ms. Vandertramp told her to do in order to force her out of the house to exercise as well as to get some fresh air.
Cinderella fell in love with the handsome figure of the prince at first sight and, just like many other girls in the kingdom, vowed to marry him. "Not only is the prince very handsome, but also being married is the only way I can leave this house and get rid of this bossy old woman," thought Cinderella to herself, alluding to Ms. Vandertramp.
"You will have the chance to meet Prince Charming in the forthcoming month," announced Ms. Vandertramp after secretly rejoicing over Cinderella's reaction. "In order to celebrate his 23rd birthday next month, Prince Charming has decided to host a ball and invite all the young ladies of fashion in this kingdom to attend, wherein he hopes to choose his future bride. And I have secured an invitation for you," continued Ms. Vandertramp, triumphantly holding up the invitation letter. "Nevertheless, you have to keep this in mind: In your current overweight figure, the prince, who would have seen many beautiful young ladies in the course of his life, will likely to ignore you completely. You stand absolutely no chance compared to the others, which are plentiful in our kingdom."
"What do I have to do then?" queried Cinderella naïvely, who was so desperate to create a good impression on the prince such that she was unaware that she had begun to fall into Ms. Vandertramp's trap.
"With a touch of make-up and a good choice of attire, your appearance is not altogether helpless," responded Ms. Vandertramp, pretending to examine Cinderella from head to toe. "If only you become just a little bit slimmer, I am confident that the prince will fall in love with you the moment he set eyes upon you."
