Three days after the event, Jake received a phone call from Shaun, who claimed to have solved the mystery, and asked the couple to visit their London apartment, and to bring their old maid- Hoa, with them.
When the couple arrived, Shaun was alone in the living room and he asked them to sit down on the sofa with the back to the door. Jake lost no time in inquiring after the progress of the urgent affair.
"You said that you have solved the mystery." Jake said, "Well, it's true that we haven't seen the faceless bride for some time since the night before our wedding, but how can you prove that you've gotten rid of her forever?"
"No, I haven't gotten rid of her, but I have discovered who is behind all this." Shaun said casually.
"Do you mean to say that the faceless bride is not a ghost, but a human being? Who could do such a thing to us? Especially such violent deeds to a sweet girl like Jennifer?" Jake inquired angrily. All this while, Jennifer sat beside her fiancé with a pale expression.
"I have him right here, Jake!" Shaun said.
"Who? What?" Suddenly, Jeffrey, who appeared from the door behind him, handcuffed Jake’s hands. "What is all this about?" Jake cried angrily.
"I told you, I've caught him!" Shaun said, "And that person is you! The criminal who ruined the appearance of Cynthia Ngo, your ex-fiancée."
"Wh....what?"
Suddenly, there was a bone-chilling high-pitched laughter; they were all dumbfounded when they perceived that the gentle Jennifer was the creator of such a shrill laugh.
"Jennifer, don't listen to them, they are mad!" Jake explained.
"Jake Nguyen, or should I say, Nguyen Van Hung, karma has finally found its way to you!" Jennifer said with a pale face, "Although it needed some of my help to get to you, it got there in the end, anyhow. Hahahahahah! Didn't expect this, did you? The one you were trying to deceive has deceived you!"
"What is all this about?" The police officer, who had entered the door after Jeffrey, inquired.
"I have no idea how Shaun and Jeffrey found out, or how much they know, but for the benefit of Jake Nguyen's trial, I had better start from the beginning." Jennifer said.
