The following afternoon, Shaun and Jeffrey arrived at the villa of the Vietnamese couple in Birmingham.
"We decided to come in the afternoon as this is the time when ghosts start to get active," Shaun explained as he was welcomed in to the house, "We are in hope of seeing this spectre to further confirm its identity."
They met with the old maid, Hoa, of the house, whom Jeffrey began to cross-examine. "Have you seen this faceless bride, whom Ms Le had mentioned?"
"Yes, sir, once I see her, only once, she no face, very scary...." the maid replied with her broken English.
"Could you describe to us her appearance and whereabouts you have seen her?" Jeffrey inquired.
"She wear white dress, long black hair, no face, very tin. I tink she Chinese....." the old maid tried to convert her experience into speech, "I see her in garden once, I water flower, but she gone soon. Very scary...."
"Did she try to communicate anything to you? Or did she do anything?" Shaun asked.
"No, I tink she not bad, she no do anyting, just look me then gone." the old maid replied.
After this cross-examination, Jennifer took them to have a tour in the villa. It was very modestly decorated, without anything luxurious. The possessions of the couple were also very modest, with nothing of great value that could have attracted a burglar. Shaun and Jeffrey were shown the torn dress in their bedroom, which was situated on the upper storey. The whole time, Shaun was extremely thoughtful.
