Just when the spies were starting to panic, two guards appeared at the entrance.
"Guards, you are just in time," Dr Frank Stein said, "Take these two rude girls away and imprison them for daring to display contempt towards the king. I'll deal with them later!"
At his majesty's command, the two guards tried to escort the spies away. "Wait a minute, you can't do this to us! You have no right! I'm sure this is not in the regulations of the competition!" Eliza screamed as a guard pushed her forward.
"Displaying contempt? What's all this about?" Claire exclaimed, "What did we ever do to you?"
"I have no right, huh? I have every right as the king," Dr Frank Stein snorted, "And all this is legal! You're violating rule number 221B: showing contempt to other candidates by commenting that their meal was 'greasy, high-calorie and unhealthy'; and 132F: showing contempt to the king, that's me, by spilling orange juice on my clothes. And, congratulations, you've just violated rule 482J: denial of crimes committed and resisting arrest." After he has finished, Dr Frank Stein threw a piece of paper onto the floor in front of Claire and Eliza, which was printed in tiny font of all the regulations of the competition.
"Wait! We've never been notified of this!" Eliza said, confused.
However, all resistance was to no avail as the spies were forced up the stairs into a room where there was a balcony. "You'll stay here until his majesty deals with you later," one of the guards said as he walked away.
The other guard came to try and lock the door. "Psst.....Girls, it's me!" the guard whispered after making sure he was out of earshot of the other guard.
"Tom!" Claire and Eliza exclaimed, and quickly covered their mouths as they perceived the other guard looking in their direction. "You've come to our rescue, quickly, get us out of here before that mad man comes to deal with us!"
"I'm very sorry girls, however, I'm afraid I can't set you free as the other guard is guarding the entrance," Tom apologised, "I could try to fight him, but Dr Frank Stein, who is just downstairs will be able to hear the din and call for help. If that happens, we'll all be caught. So now, I have to pretend to lock you here at the balcony so the other guard doesn't suspect anything. You have to try and escape to finish off this mission. I have just discovered that it is not as simple as we thought. Originally, I thought Dr Frank Stein was just practising unfair play; however, it seems to be more serious than that....But don't worry, underneath this balcony is a dangling chandelier, which you could use to get back to the floor below by climbing down."
"What's taking so long?" the other guard shouted.
"Coming!" Tom replied, then whispered to the spies, "Right, I've got to go so he doesn't suspect.....good luck. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll be here to help you!"
