That afternoon, Claire and Eliza managed to persuade their boss to let them off for the rest of the day and arrived at quarter past four at the café. They entered only to discover that Tiffany has 'reserved the entire café', and the only table was in the middle of the room, where Tiffany, Shaun and Jeffrey sat.
"Chop-chop, slow pokes!" exclaimed Tiffany impatiently after she perceived Claire and Eliza. "Everyone's waiting for you! How dare you keep ma Jeffie waiting!"
As they approached, Claire and Eliza discovered that the table was already full of desserts, set up for a traditional English afternoon tea, with savory chocolate biscuits and colourful macarons.
"Ahem, now that everyone's here, I shall begin," announced Tiffany after Claire and Eliza have ordered their drinks. "As I told you guys earlier, my dad bought a ship to become his 'ghost pirate ship' to furnish his soon-opening fairground. But it turned out that the ship is indeed really haunted, or says the people trying to furnish the ship. They claimed that they saw ghost shadows every time they were inside, and their decorations always got ruined on the next day. My dad suspected that they were just being lazy, so he changed a new crew for the decoration; but the new crew also claimed to have seen a ghost on the ship. So, I'm asking ma dearest Jeffie - the best supernatural detective to come and investigate this for me and ...."
"Then what are we here for?" replied Claire. "It seems like all you need is your Jeffie!"
"Um, well, no! I suggested that we all go as in case this involves some danger, whether the cause is from ghosts or humans, um, it's better to have more people, you know....." said Jeffrey, unwilling to go alone with Tiffany.
"Well, thanks for dragging us in to experience the danger!" answered Eliza sarcastically. "Don't you know that we're too busy doing our placement to deal with such trivial things?"
"I told'ya they don't wanna come!" said Tiffany, pulling a face.
"I told'ya they don't wanna come!" said Tiffany, pulling a face.
"Anyways, when is this investigation taking place?" enquired Claire.
"Tiffany hopes to get it solved as soon as possible, so we're planning to head off tomorrow morning," responded Shaun.
"Well, that's too bad, cos we work 8am to 6pm tomorrow! Oh, joy!" responded Eliza, rolling her eyes.
"Wait, you know what?" Claire suddenly had a brilliant idea. " My cousin Blythe has just arrived yesterday for her university interview, which is today. She can't wait to tour the place, but you know I'm far too busy. I'm sure she'd be glad to join you guys in your investigation! Tada, problem solved!"
"Oh, Blythe has arrived already?" said Shaun, "Cool! I'll ask her if she wants to join!"
"Who's this Blythe you're talking about?" enquired Tiffany suspiciously. "Is she pretty? And what is she doing here?"
"Well, yeah, I guess she is pretty," responded Claire, shrugging. "I mean.... all her classmates call her 'the pretty genius'. She's now in her last year of high school despite being only 16, and she's hoping to come here to study for her university degree next academic year - that's why she came for the interview...."
"Great! She said she's free to join!" said Shaun, looking up from his phone.
"Great! She said she's free to join!" said Shaun, looking up from his phone.
Therefore, the following morning, the group arranged to meet up at the bus stop of the only bus that can take them directly to the fairground. When Shaun and Jeffrey approached the bus stop, they saw a cute Asian girl with long braided hair, wearing a white shirt and a black skirt already waiting for them. In fact, that girl was no other than Claire and Shaun's Taiwanese cousin - Blythe.
Shaun waved to his cousin whilst Jeffrey commented, "Dayum, your cousin's pretty cute!"
