"Raise both your hands and do not move, you're surrounded and resistance is futile!" Without warning, a police officer appeared after climbing down the ladder of a helicopter and pointed a gun at the shocked professor. "You are under arrest for attempting to conquer the world. You have the right to remain silent, and anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law."
In fact, during Dr Marlow's speech, Emily had secretly contacted the headquarters and called the police without their noticing. Thus, the police was able to arrive just in time for their rescue.
On the following day, Claire and Eliza were walking to school together, this time, without their annoying neighbour Heather, when Eliza's phone rang. She unlocked the screen to discover that it was a video-call from Tom to congratulate them on their successful mission. "Congratulations, ladies, for your success in accomplishing yet another tricky mission. You've arrested Dr Marlow and prevented another destructive volcanic eruption, thus saving the world, again. Way to go, gals!"
"Aw, thanks Tom!" replied Claire. "We wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of Emily. Oh yeah, by the way, how is Emily doing? We forgot to tell you that Tiffany turned up in the middle of our mission after Emily fell over and banged her head on the ground. Then, Emily returned after Tiffany was slapped on the face."
"OMG, it was super weird!" added Eliza. "We never knew Tiffany had a split personality. I mean.....her other persona never showed up during our time as classmates."
"Ah!" responded Tom with his usual calmness. "I see that you know everything already. In fact, Tiffany have suffered from this since her childhood after the divorce of her parents. Despite the wealth of his father, she felt insecure and vulnerable. Being the only child of the family with no siblings to share her anxiety, she imagined herself to have a twin sister to play with. Gradually, this became so real in her mind that a part of her actually became Emily, her twin sister, whom she imagined to have followed her mum to Philadelphia. This was a reflection of her desire to follow her mum there but also she didn't want to leave her dad. It was Emily who applied for a job at the PMSSO about a year ago, and I knew immediately that she was no other than your classmate."
"Then, what about Tiffany?" enquired Claire. "Does she now know our identity as spies?"
"Nope," answered Tom. "In order to protect your secret identity as spies of the PMSSO, the headquarters have decided to erase Tiffany's memory of taking part in the mission. And, as, in reality, Tiffany and Emily share the same memory only that each could not access the memory that belonged to the other, Tiffany's memories of being Emily have also been completely erased. Hence, Emily is gone forever. There's no more Emily, only Tiffany's left now."
"Claire, Eliza!" Abruptly, the spies perceived a familiar voice calling their names. On turning around, they perceived that the owner of the voice was no other than their old high-school classmate - Tiffany.
"OMG! I haven't seen you for SO long!" exclaimed Tiffany. "How's everything goin'?"
"It's....um....it's going!" replied Claire, who felt a bit weird to see Tiffany so different to the Emily they've met only the day before, but also glad to have their old classmate back.
"OMG, you're not gonna believe what I dreamt last night!" said Tiffany excitedly, and without waiting for the spies' replies, continued, "I dreamt that the three of us were on this weird island full of flowers, where we were kidnapped by this weirdly dressed old woman. OMG, you're not gonna believe what she was wearing."
"Let me guess.....she had a yellowish make-up, wore a flowery green dress and a sunflower-shaped hat with green gloves?" answered Eliza.
"No way! How did you know?" queried Tiffany, flabbergasted.
"OMG, did I get it right?" responded Eliza, pretending to be surprised. "It was just a random guess."
